Can you top this?

Last year, Memphis Most was a whirlwind stirred up by Hernando DeSoto himself. He came back to the city after more than 400 years -- looking pretty good, considering -- and was rendered speechless by all the great stuff going on in this city.

This year, we have the prince of parties, Michael Donahue, to take us on a tour of the town. I promise he won't be speechless. (See the video below).

And what a great week to start off Memphis Most. In this last week alone, there was the premiere of Craig Brewer's $5 Cover at a huge local screening and worldwide on MTV, showing off some of Memphis' best musicians. Associated with that was the debut of Flipside Memphis -- documentaries about local offbeat people and places, and $5 Cover Amplified -- documentaries about the performers in $5 Cover. Plus the soundtrack of amazing Memphis tunes.

Also in the last three days is the Beale Street Music Festival, once again gloriously wallowing in the mud, and bringing awesome musical talent from around the world onto three stages, a tent and a shack.

What else? How about the release on DVD of "Nothing But the Truth," a film shot in Memphis with Kate Beckinsale and Alan Alda that is getting great critical reviews and brought a nice chunk of change to the city. And how about the performance Saturday night of Branford Marsalis with the IRIS Orchestra -- which included some of the students of the amazing Stax Music Academy.

This is just a partial list of great stuff in the city within a week's time -- and that's just the creative part. There's so much going on it's going to be a challenge to figure out what is Memphis Most.
